Tomorrow's Rarities Today

At J Daniel Rare Coins, we identify modern coins with a high Relative Rarity Index (RRI) that can be purchased for far less than 'classic' rarities today.

We’re experiencing the biggest boom in coins since modern-day collecting began in the 1950’s:
  • In the last 20 years, the US Mint has issued over one hundred new coin designs
Most of them are bullion and commemorative coins, not for circulation
  • The public has taken notice.  The US Mint estimates that 140 Million new collectors took up the hobby through the Statehood Quarter program
  • As these new hobbyists mature, they evolve into Certified coins and rarities
  • Demand for numismatic ‘Classics’ always outstrips supply, forcing prices up
The PCGS Rarities Index has increased 2500 percent since 1970.

As a result, demand for modern coins with similar relative rarity as classics is soaring, as are prices.

Here are some examples of Moderns with the greatest potential for long-term appreciation.
